ABOUT THE COURSE
Harness the power of the sun’s rays to create original prints on paper in this afternoon printmaking workshop. You will learn the basics of solar printmaking using a variety of colorful photosensitive pigments and will get hands-on experience making your own original prints. All supplies are included.

Melissa Gillespie, BFA
Melissa Gillespie is an artist from Fort Worth, TX. She earned her BFA from University of Texas at Arlington in papermaking and printmaking.

Opening Reception Friday, January 19 6-9pm
SOLAR features artwork in the printmaking medium about the sun, made by our sun (as in solar printmaking, cyanotyping, or printing with photosensitive inks) or for the sun (about sun- or star-related cultural and natural history). The exhibit is our featured exhibit for the 2018 PrintAustin annual printmaking festival (January 15 – February 15, 2018).

Art.Science.Gallery.’s monthly artist trunk show & art sale features Patricia Falconer, MFA, an Austin-based artist and art instructor for The Contemporary Austin and the University of Texas Informal Classes. She will have a pop-up show of a variety of original drawings and paintings. Pat Falconer has taught classes in drawing and bird illustration at The Contemporary Austin’s Art School at Laguna Gloria since 1998, and has also been an animator for Austin films such as Richard Linklater’s Waking Life. Primarily a painter, Pat has a BFA and BA from The University of Texas at Austin and an MFA in Studio Art, Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
